Tyris Bell, Bell Heir’s BBQ’s founder, is passionate about barbecue. His love of barbecue was nurtured by his rich family barbecue tradition and his wide travels in the South. He brings many years of experience in the restaurant and retailing businesses to this new restaurant.

“After many years in the restaurant business, including eight years as the general manager of Luella’s Southern Kitchen, I am ready to open my own establishment,” he said. “I am such a lover of barbecue that it was an easy decision to go in that direction. My great-grandmother, Luella, was a major influence on our entire family. Her recipes and high standards of food preparation are what inspire me every day. That is why my goal is that Bell Heir’s BBQ will rise above the ‘herd’ of Chicago barbecue joints and be considered one of the best.”

Tyris understands how barbecue brings people together. He believes guests will enjoy the wide variety of offerings on the menu and bring the food home for a delicious family style meal. “Some of my best memories are of our family sitting down together to enjoy Grandma Luella’s wonderful recipes,” said Bell. “When the table conversation quieted down, it was because we were too busy eating to talk. I will be thrilled when our guests have the same feeling of joy being together, while they enjoy great barbecue and comfort foods.”
